CANCELLED – Celebrating Tanabata -National Botanic Garden of Wales

Following the successful celebrations of the re-opening of the Japanese garden in June 2019 the NBGoW are hoping to organise a range of cultural activities to celebrate the Japanese festival of Tanabata.  This event has been cancelled due to the restrictions in place within Wales as a result of the COVID-19 emergency.

Virtual Meeting – Lecture & Garden Tour – 25th July 2020

Yoko Kawaguchi has kindly agreed to talk on “The Joy of the Unexpected”: She will use a PowerPoint presentation with live commentary via ZOOM to take us on a journey around the Jardin Japonais Pierre Baudis in Toulouse”.  This Japanese garden was created in 1982 and boasts both a dry landscape (karesansui) garden and a luxuriant pond garden, which succeed in complementing each other. Following Yoko’s talk we will host a general discussion and seek suggestions for future JGS activities.…

Virtual Meeting – Garden Tour and Q&A – 5th September 2020

Lynn Austin offers us a tour of her garden on 5th September which Anthony and Lynn Austin built during 2005. Using a series of historical and current photos her talk will outline the challenges of the site and how their visits to Japan influenced the final design and choice of plants.  We will also hold a “Gardener’s Question Time” inviting questions/topics/problems to be submitted in advance. We invite registration at 2:45pm in the hope that all attendees are fully connected…
