Garden building on the riverbank in the Ashu mountains – Marilyn Hammerton

Marilyn is a long time member of the Japanese Garden Society and frequently  attends North West regional meetings, some of you will remember a previous talk she gave on oriental gardens. In 2017, Marilyn and Bill attended the Japanese Garden Intensive Seminar plus in Kyoto.  The course was attended by 24 students and the highlight for her was the requirement to individually design and build a garden, on the riverbank in the Ashu mountains, without any specific directions and using only the natural materials around the site.

Making a Japanese style garden at Beck Farm- the story so far…  – Andy Bolton

Andy is the organiser of the Yorkshire and Humberside Region  of the JGS and is another regular attender of our meetings.  He has already published some articles in Shakkei about his Japanese style garden building exploits.  Now is your opportunity to hear about the early stages in the construction of Japanese style garden in Tockwith, North Yorkshire.  Andy insists he is very much a novice Japanese garden designer/builder; and will be describing what has gone well, not so well and future plans for the garden.

You must book to attend this event because of the catering requirements, see organiser below – Deadline 5th March, 2018
