JGS South East Virtual Meeting
July 5 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Some of you will already have marked Sunday 5th July in your diaries as our Chairman Graham and Pauline Bowyer had so generously offered to again open up their beautiful Japanese garden for a Members’ lunch party. Sadly, we won’t be able to go ahead with lunch in the present circumstances. However please hold the date, following our well received meeting on 10th May, Graham is very kindly arranging to give us a virtual tour of his garden on the same date starting at 4pm.
And there is more! Our lecture will be given by Colin Ellis who will talk about Bamboo, both from its native perspective in Japan and how it is used and abused in gardens in Britain. I’m sure we all want to know how we can stop our bamboo from taking over and Colin may just have the answers!
Speaking of garden problems, we want to introduce a new feature called the Garden Bench. We’ll be inviting you to send questions relating to Japanese gardens and plants and we’ll collate a selection for answering in the final half hour of our meeting.
The meeting will be open to all SE members as well as our friends from other regions. Note that we have selected an earlier start time in response to member feedback. In August/September we’ll have another very special garden and another excellent talk lined up. We miss seeing you all but hope this new and temporary way of meeting allows us to stay connected.
If you wish to attend, please get in touch with the secretary on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Secure link to access the meeting will be provided to those who expressed interest.
