20th July 2019 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
JAPANESE GARDEN OPEN DAY
SATURDAY 20THJULY 2019: 11am – 4pm
DANESCOURT CEMETERY, WERGS ROAD, TETTENHALL,WV6 BS
Founded in 1993 “The Japanese Garden Society” is a registered charity whose purpose is to promote public interest in Japanese gardens. Members of the Midland Region of JGS currently maintain Japanese gardens at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Danescourt Cemetery. Both were designed by JGS members.
We are holding an Open Day in the beautiful half acre Japanese Zen / Tea Garden, set up as an isolated garden of quiet contemplation within the grounds of Danescourt Cemetery. The garden is enclosed by a wall and mature hedges, and has created an evocative experience of Japan far removed from our urban surroundings. (Photos of the garden can be seen on the Japanese Garden Society Facebook page.)
There is no charge to attend the Open Day and members of the society will be in attendance to answer questions about the garden and other Japanese topics. Various Japanese artifacts and examples of publications produced by JGS will be available to view and purchase on the day.
We would love you to drop in and join us and see this hidden gem for yourselves. The day will be totally informal and light refreshment will be available. So make a note – Danescourt Japanese Garden, Saturday 20 July between 11.00 .a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Parking is available within the cemetery grounds.
