Graham Hardman – Designing a Japanese Garden

Graham is well known to all members of the JGS. He is currently Vice President and a Trustee of the society and was the recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays and Rosette for his contribution to introducing and promoting Japanese gardens in the UK. Graham has been involved in the design and building of several new Japanese gardens in the UK, including Walkden, Willowbrook and Bury Hospices, and has been awarded Silver and Gold medals for show gardens at the RHS Flower Show held in Tatton Park. His talk today will include the design of the renovated Japanese garden in Valley Gardens, Harrogate.

AGM

Ioan Davies – Trees

Regional members spend a lot of time working on the conservation and maintenance of Japanese gardens in the NW. Many of our new members, together with volunteer gardeners in the hospices, are involved in tree pruning and there have been numerous requests for a formal pruning workshop. We are in the process of planning a workshop for early 2019 but this lecture is designed to increase members general knowledge about trees prior to the more focused activity planned for next year.

Please contact the Organisers if you wish to attend – Do not simply turn up! – Catering requirements must be arranged in advance
